Kids Gardening
 
Growing seeds is an awesome way for kids to learn about nature and the environment.  Hands on learning that can not be replaced by pictures or a book.  Gardening nurtures a sense of pride and ownership and cultivates in your children a love for the land.
 
Children of all ages can enjoy gardening.  We have choosen many varieties that are quick growing and are fun to watch grow.  
 
Teachers, any of these varieties will work great to use in your  curriculum to reinforce what your students have learned about mother earth.

Sierra (Garbonzo Bean)

Plants are sturdy and grows to about 18" high. Outstanding yield potential. Mid-late maturity, .75" pod length, tan color, seed color tan.
Yellow Popcorn

This mid season popcorn is exceptionally good eating corn.  It has excellent yield potential and the popcorn is delicious!
Black Aztec Corn

Popularized in 1864 by J. H. Gregory of Marblehead, Massachusetts, this corn is thought to have its origins in pre-Columbian times.  Pretty light green, six foot tall stalks bear 8" ears that start out snow white and very good for fresh eating, turning to purple and finally blue-black at maturity.  At maturity it makes a beautiful and very sweet blue corn meal.  Not just an ornamental, this is a very good dual purpose corn.

Strawberry Popcorn

Very attractive dark strawberry color and shape. 2" size ear, 110 days to maturity.
Detroit Dark Red Beet

Mini Colored

Ear size is 3-5" with some of the ears that have solid color, but most are multi colored and calicos.. 100 days to maturity.
Small Sugar Pie Pumpkin

Sun Cherry Zinnia - Zinnia elegans

This variety is a crowd pleaser.  Produces beautiful blossoms in bright shades of pink.  Great for cut flowers all season long.  It grows 24-32" tall with 4-5" blossoms.   
Teddy Bear - Helianthus annuus

This is a fun flower you will want to plant season after season.  It's a unique dwarf variety with double yellow/orange blooms.  It grows 2-3' tall with 5" wide blooms.
